The signature build
Ocho Negro is the POPBUILDS build we point people to first. It takes the octagonal steel case and integrated bracelet that define the range and pairs them with a black textured aftermarket dial, so the watch reads as one continuous piece of metal with a dark centre. In daylight the dial grain catches light in fine horizontal lines; indoors it goes almost matte, and only the applied indices and hands give the dial away. That restraint is deliberate. Where the colour builds in our line-up are statements, Ocho Negro is the one you wear without thinking about it — with a black jacket, with a white tee, in a meeting, at a table. It is also the build we photograph the range with, because the monochrome dial shows the case finishing honestly: the brushed flanks, the polished bevel that runs the length of the bracelet, and the way the octagonal bezel breaks light at each corner.
